Samantha Ruth Prabhu is an Indian actress and producer who works predominantly in Telugu and Tamil cinema alongside Hindi streaming projects. Born on April 28, 1987, in Madras (present-day Chennai), Tamil Nadu, to a Telugu father and a Malayali mother, she completed her schooling at Holy Angels Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School and earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Stella Maris College, Chennai. While modeling part-time during college, she caught the attention of filmmakers and made her acting debut in Gautham Vasudev Menon's acclaimed romantic drama *Ye Maaya Chesave* (2010), earning widespread acclaim, the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut – South, and a Nandi Special Jury Award. She rapidly rose to the top tier of South Indian cinema, achieving historic critical and commercial success. In 2012, she became only the second actress in history (after Revathi) to win both the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Tamil (*Neethaane En Ponvasantham*) and Best Actress – Telugu (*Eega*) in the same calendar year.
