Diego Piñon (yes, the super white guy in the picture) was thirteen when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Having little to do being locked inside, he began his journey as an avid filmmaker. Using nothing but a stop motion app on his phone, various poseable toys, and a microphone from a VR headset, he soon learned the fundamentals of filmmaking and gained hundreds of thousands of clicks on YouTube. He began high school right as the pandemic ended and transitioned to live-action filmmaking, borrowing equipment from his school that was maybe a bit too expensive to trust him with. From there, he wrote, directed, and even starred in multiple shorts, some of which even utilized stop motion effects and homemade animatronics when Blender was too hard to learn. Now, as a writing student of Vancouver Film School, Diego has just finished his first professional shoot, The Fibulator, blending his love of fast-paced, dialogue-driven comedy with the heart and human connection at the center of all his stories.
