Karoline Pelikan

Director

Karoline Pelikan is a filmmaker, impact producer, and cultural practitioner whose participatory work explores personal narratives, human rights, and social justice. Her films and projects have been selected for Visions du Réel, Movies that Matter, Lima Film Festival, FICDEH Colombia, and Conecta Chile, among others. She is the founder of the feminist film collective EmpoderArte, where she focuses on community-based film education and storytelling. Her work often develops in contexts marked by environmental, social, cultural, and political risk and has received support from the Peruvian Ministry of Culture, Alliance Française, Goethe-Institut, and the British Arts Council. She is also the founder and director of the Festival de Cine Social y Derechos Humanos in Peru, a human rights film festival connecting communities across the country through cinema and dialogue, with a focus on Indigenous communities, women, and children. As an impact producer, she collaborates with NGOs and educational organizations to develop alternative distribution models that bring environmental and cultural documentaries back to the communities they portray.
